Hall Happenings – June 2026

We thought last month was a busy one but this month seems to be even busier with lots of work either finished or underway.

Richard from Ava Building and Carpentry has replaced the rotten barge boards at the front of the Small Hall (thankfully no further rotten boards were found). Grant (Pro-Surface) has painted the new hand rail as well as the ramp and trellis outside the Large Hall Kitchen. He has also finished the plastering and painting work needed in our Foyer. This work included stripping the paint off the Large Hall doors to expose some lovely original Rimu. This work has already made such a difference to our entryway. Next step will be to complete and install an historic photo montage onto the newly plastered and painted blank wall. The Omokoroa History Group is delighted to be assisting with this project.

Our new fence (along the Green Waste driveway) has been erected (by Jason Muller and his team) complete with a childproof gate giving vehicle access to the shed. Our sincere thanks to the Omokoroa-Kaimai Community Board for funding the fence.

New coat hooks have been placed in the exterior entrance ways to both halls. No doubt these will be well used with winter here already.

Benches to sit and enjoy a cuppa (or two on sunny days) have been installed on the outdoor deck as well as on the ground by the Large Hall heat pump compressor – this area is scheduled to have a garden.

The revamped OSH Website is nearing completion – we hope to be able to have our much- improved Website ready to launch in the coming weeks.

If you would like to help with any of our Centenary activities, the OSH Committee would love to hear from you. Please contact Cory on 0210 2490 430 or email settlers.hall@gmail.com

With everything we have going on, we would appreciate more hands to help us with our exciting projects, especially as we start to focus on planning more Centenary events. You can help by becoming an OSH “Friend” – please email settlers.hall@gmail.com for further information.

At a recent working bee by the OSH Committee ably assisted by five members of our OSH “Friends” team, here are some photos that demonstrate how versatile both Halls are along with what can be done with some willing hands and decorations!
