Dayna O’Sullivan Dance

Dayna is a practicing qualified secondary school dance teacher and an ex-professional dancer, offering beginner adult dance classes at the Omokoroa Settlers Hall. She has taught preschool, kids and teenagers, right through to adults; and is excited to be offering beginner adult dance classes here in our Community where she resides with her family.

The style offered is: Commercial Jazz, which combines elements of jazz technique, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Musical Theatre. This is suited for adults 18+ who are new to dance. Classes are for 1 hour and consist of a warm up and short routine, which is guaranteed to be fun, social, challenging with no pressure attached!

Dayna believes everyone should dance as it allows us to build self-confidence, increases fitness and coordination, promotes creativity, and it can be a great social activity.

Dayna started dancing at the age of 5 and has trained in Ballet, Jazz and Hip Hop dance. She worked professionally in the United States for Carnival Cruise Line for 8 years as a dancer and has been teaching for over 8 years.

She is currently a Performing Arts Specialist Teacher at Otumoetai Intermediate School, where she teaches dance, drama and musical theatre to aspiring students. She is also on the creative team for Stage Right Trust who is currently rehearsing for the infamous musical “In The Heights” which had its season in June 2023.
